KNES PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Introduction

Here at Kuwait National English School, Physical Education is available to all students across the whole school. PE is often misinterpreted by many as being solely to develop students’ skills in specific activities and to improve fitness levels of students. Yes, this is part of the programme, however this is only a small piece of the jigsaw in modern day Physical Education.
To create a developmentally appropriate learning environment for students it is crucial their social, emotional and cognitive domain are engaged equally as much as their skill development and fitness. In doing this students are becoming confident individuals, successful learners, effective contributors and responsible citizens.

 
With schools being required to prepare and equip students with the necessary qualities and skills for modern society, PE is now becoming a significant subject in meeting these needs. Through appropriate learning and teaching strategies and varied learning environments students will undoubtedly develop not only physically, but also their understanding of themselves, friends and the world in which they live.
