It was a proud day for Kuwait National English School as
forty five students of the Class of 2008 celebrated
their graduation, these students having completed the
IGCSE curriculum and their Secondary Education.
The Graduation Ceremony was held under the patronage of
his Excellency, the Canadian Ambassador to Kuwait,
Dennis Thibault, The Chairman, Mr Gharabally Al
Gharabally as well as the Managing Director, Madame
Chantal Al Gharabally hosted the Graduation Ceremony of
"Class of 2008".
The graduation programme commemorated the graduates for
their academic achievements before they were presented
with their Diplomas. These awards included the
"Most Outstanding Student" in each academic subject as
well as "Endeavour Awards" comparable to the most
improved student in each subject.
The honorary award recipients included the "Student of
the Year Award" which was shared jointly by Sarah Al
Kandari and Leanne Al Othman and the "ECIS Award for
International Understanding" which went to Nadine
Kanawati.
Under the leadership of Madame Chantal Al Gharabally,
KNES also took time to acknowledge and award the members
of faculty that have been with the school for many years
and have demonstrated excellence plus good and loyal
service.
The school celebrates 17 years of service to the Kuwaiti
community this year. One of the ways they give
back to the community is through the :Omar Al Gharabally
Scholarship. This Scholarship is awarded every
year to students who demonstrate academic merit.
Madame Chantal Al Gharabally addressing the "Class of
2008" mentioned the importance of the goal of achieving
academic excellence in external examinations. She
also pointed out that this was not he only important
goal in life. What is more important is that
students who graduate from KNES will be able to share
and promote the universal values which the school have
inculcated in them. These include tolerance,
peace, solidarity, co-operation, integrity and justice.
Most of the graduating students of the "Class of 2008"
have been at the school for thirteen years. Madame
Chantal expressed her confidence that many of them will
be decision makers and political leaders who will be
able to eradicate fanaticism and bigotry, helping to
establish peace and true democracy in this part of the
world.
Finally Madame Chantal thanked all of the "Class of
2008" staff and parents for helping the school to
promote its goals. She further pointed out that a
good education and only the right education provides
liberty and freedom of thought.
