KNES Kinder Heart Pupils Visit Kuwait Zoo

As a continuation of the KNES Kinder Heart Pre School policy of introducing its very youngest pupils to the world outside of school, the Kinder Heart Pre School pupils paid a visit to Kuwait Zoo on Wednesday 14th November.
For many of the pupils this was their first sight of the animals that they had previously been told stories about whilst in their class sessions. It was amazing to find out how good the children were at identifying the animals they had heard about in their story times.
Another highlight of the visit was a ride on the Zoo Train. Again this was probably the nearest the children have ever got to a train as Kuwait does not possess a railway system.
After a busy morning exploring the Zoo, the children then moved on to a restaurant where they were able to socialise and discuss with their teachers all that they had seen in a very exciting morning.
SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS HOST WINTER CONCERT
On the 11th of December, with the start of the winter break only a few days away, the Special Educational Needs Department of Kuwait National English School mounted their usual spectacular concert. This time the format was slightly different with the programme being divided into two halves. The first part of the evening consisted of a video presentation which gave the audience an insight into the highly specialised programmes followed by one group of younger children at KNES.
The presentation illustrated how, in one term ,the children tackled a range of carefully planned educational and developmental learning tasks and the successes they had achieved as a consequence. The presentation, compiled by a number of KNES’s specialist SEN staff, was well received by the audience. Many of whom were not aware of the vast amounts of dedication and expertise which the highly qualified staff put into the delivering of individual educational programmes.
The second part of the evening consisted of the concert proper. Each of the Red, Green and White teaching groups performed a range of popular songs accompanied by pianist Ms. Mariah. The concert finale terminated in a crescendo of singing with all of the pupils joining together to perform the well know song “Shake To The Rhythm” and the Arabic language song “Kolena”. The entire audience joined in with the cast filling the hall with their own voices and , at the end, gave the pupils a lengthy round of applause.
Madame Chantal Al Gharabally (Director) thanked the pupils for their splendid performance and thanked the audience for the way they had shown their appreciation to the cast. She also took the opportunity to wish all Muslim families a Happy Eid and Christian families a Merry Christmas.

The SEN Concert in full swing

Monday 16th December is the last school day of this term for pupils at the school however for one pupil this day will mark the end of a remarkable sixteen years studying at this school. Noor Jassim Yassim first joined the school at the age of three when it was located in smaller premises in Surra at such time when the school was just a Nursery and Primary school only. Noor is pictured above with the school Director, Madame Chantal Al Gharabally.

After a very lengthy selection process, which included interview sessions and an election in which all of the senior pupils voted; the School has finally chosen its Head Boy and Girl for this academic year.
The chosen pupils are Omar Mohammed who is to be the Head Boy and Sarah Abdulwahab who is to be the Head Girl. These are regarded as very important appointments as the two students will be required to represent KNES at the many events which take during the school year. They will lead the KNES student council and school prefects.
Their first formal event took place last week when Madame Chantal Al Gharabally (Director of KNES) introduced the new Head Boy and Girl to an assembly of the whole school. Both Sarah and Omar made speeches of acceptance and received a loud round of applause from their fellow pupils at the end of the assembly.
Omar and Sarah are in their final years at KNES and are presently preparing to sit IGCSE examinations in the near future. Both of them are exceptionally bright students; open minded, setting an example to promoting international understanding throughout the school.
Omar enjoys football but has his eyes on attending university with the aim of taking up a future career as a Dental Surgeon.
Sarah also has many outside interests including drawing and reading modern English literature. She too has definite plans for her future. Sarah’s aim is to enter a Kuwait University to study economics and then, after her graduation, to develop a career in business.
