"To keep the memory of my son Omar alive, I have set up the Omar Al Gharabally Scholarships to help the most able students achieve what Omar will never be able to accomplish as his life was too short and because i believe in giving others the best possible conditions which they deserve!"

Omar Al Gharabally was killed by a criminal driver on his way back home from the University of law in Avignon where he was studying in France. His last class had been about “Constitutional law” at 17:30 p.m and Omar died totally innocently four hours after the tragic accident.

Omar was born on the 7th April 1976 in London and he died two weeks before his 20th anniversary on the 21st March 1996. Omar had the intelligence of mind and the intelligence of heart. Omar was terribly handsome although he seemed not to notice it, tall and fit with a wonderful smile. Omar had always been very good, generous, respectful towards others and he had a strong belief in god. He had always been a bright student, very witty, full of humour, very eager to learn and to understand everything around him. Omar was especially bright in Mathematics, History, Economics and Literature. But in fact, he was interested in all various fields from music, poetry to all the latest technology of our century and, also in politics. Omar had always been modest about himself, and he was always the first one to criticize himself, which is already the first sign of intelligence.

Scholarships are offered internally and externally for the most able students to help the memory of Omar to be kept alive, hoping that, these students will be able to achieve what Omar could not do in his very short life.
