Environmental Week: 8th to 12th February 2026
Environmental Week was
observed at KNES in February 2026 and students and staff were encouraged to
participate in the initiative. The student council steered this initiative
which asked students and staff to collect used plastic water bottles. The
purpose of this event was to educate students on recycling, reduce plastic
waste and raise awareness about recycling at KNES and within the country.
Classes competed against
each other to check who could collect the most. Collection bins were placed in
each class and empty plastic bottles were deposited in them for 1 week. After 1
week, the bins will be emptied by the council and the plastic collected was
weighed. The class which collected the highest mass of plastic was then
announced
Year 8B ultimately managed
to triumph over all other classes by collecting 9.9 kg of plastic water
bottles. Year 8B were announced winners by the student council on 15 February
2026. As a reward for their outstanding effort and commitment, the class were
rewarded with a Pizza lunch, courtesy of the SLT, which they enjoyed with each
other in the cafeteria. In total more than 30 kg’s of plastic bottles were
collected by all classes. These used plastic water bottles were recycled by the
student council at a local recycling facility. This initiative helped instill
the British values of Moral integrity and Societal development in
our students and it highlighted the enthusiasm and commitment of our students for
caring for the environment and society.
